About  Our Teams

Balltown Blockers Volleyball Club, Inc. is a Juniors JVA Volleyball club for male athletes ages 12 - 18 desiring to grow their skills in competitive volleyball.  Our desire as a club is to grow the sport of volleyball in the Capital Region and support our athletes in creating a space for growing their skills of volleyball, fun, and competition.

Balltown Blockers provides an environment where young athletes can improve in the game of volleyball and learn the important values of team spirit and sportsmanship.  Our seasoned Coaches encourage the development of skills and techniques necessary for players to compete at a high level in the game of volleyball.   We focus on the fundamentals and the development of all athletes, and hope that this will help each athlete to develop skills in leadership, teamwork, work ethic, managing adversity and success, improving communication, and honoring loyalty to themselves, their teammates, and our Club.  Our intention each season is to provide athletes with feedback and tools to grow as a volleyball athlete and person.  Balltown Blockers is a family; our older athletes work with and get to know our younger athletes, and support each other whenever they can.  We intend on also providing athletes with opportunities to give back to their community and surrounding areas through community service.

Athletes will attend 2, 90 minutes practices per week, with the addition of either a 60 minute weight room/skills clinic added weekly; starting in the end of November until the second week of May.  We intend on participating in approximately 10 tournaments between mid-December and early May; 1 travel in December, 1 local and 1 travel in January, February, March, and April, and 1 travel in May.  We hope to host our own tournament in January.

Balltown Blockers teaches and expects the following from all athletes:

  • To be disciplined

  • To be competitive, to train at full effort with confidence

  • To exude positivity as a supportive teammate

  • To problem solve

  • To have mental endurance, to push beyond comfort zones

  • To be enthusiastic, expressing excitement and energy whether on the court or on the sidelines

  • To be trusting of coaches and the clubs decisions that we have their best interest

  • To conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity and character

  • Winning matches is far less important than competing with character, being honest, ethical, and kind, and respecting everyone and everything encountered along with this wonderful sport we all love. That is the ultimate win.

Many of our Coaches and Parent volunteers  has either coached, played, or has a child in the sport, and has a genuine love of volleyball.  Coaches and Parent Volunteers have completed necessary training and certificates required through USA Volleyball and SafeSport.  Coaches are mentors, role models, and above all, teachers.  Coaches teach athletes the game of volleyball including all aspects of skills training, tactical knowledge, and match strategies.  Balltown Blockers  expects a high level of commitment from everyone involved and seeks athletes who want to put in the time and work necessary to be the best volleyball player they can be.  Our Board of Directors and Coaches share that commitment and work tirelessly to build highly successful teams and athletes.
